My parents are gone, but I still have their things. A plate, a chair, a matchbook, a sweater, an old cell phone. Something of them lives on in this stuff. Send a picture of an object and tell me what it does to you and how it makes you feel about your mom and dad, dead or alive. Then go clean up your room. Thank you
My mother painted and made her own jewelry and valued beauty in her surroundings. Aesthetics were as important to her as they are to me. And what she wore mattered. I have a box of what she called her taxi shoes because she only wore them when she knew she’d be hailing a cab. My feet fit exactly into them. I love each pair and it made me a little sad when I realized my own daughter’s shoe size was one size too large. If my son marries, I hope it will be to someone with small feet.
